Analysis: The former Angels ace struggled in his final two seasons with Los Angeles before joining San Diego in the offseason. He was even worse in a Padres uniform with an 0-5 record and a 7.44 ERA in nine starts before landing on the DL with hip inflammation in May. "I've decided to step away from baseball," the 34-year-old Weaver said. "While I've been working hard to get back on the mound, my body just will not allow me to compete like I want to."
|May 20 5:22 PM PT6:22 PM MT7:22 PM CT8:22 PM ET20:22 ET0:22 GMT8:22 5:22 PM MST7:22 PM EST7:52 PM VEN4:22 UAE (+1)7:22 PM CT-Weaver (left hip inflammation) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
Analysis: It's unclear if Weaver is actually dealing with an injury, but the ineffective veteran could use a break after having his season ERA rise to 7.44 after he was rocked for seven runs in just two-thirds of an inning against the Diamondbacks on May 19. This news should have little to no impact on fantasy lineups.
|May 20 10:34 AM PT11:34 AM MT12:34 PM CT1:34 PM ET13:34 ET17:34 GMT1:34 10:34 AM MST12:34 PM EST1:04 PM VEN21:34 UAE12:34 PM CT-Jered Weaver fell to 0-5, allowing seven runs on five hits and two walks in 0.2 innings, as the San Diego Padres lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-1 on Friday. Weaver did not strike out a batter, ending the game with a 7.44 ERA and 1.49 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Weaver was booed off the mound following the shortest, non-injury-related outing of his 331-start major league career. The former Angels ace is attempting to survive with a fastball in the low 80s and secondary pitches which are fooling few. Weaver has served up 16 home runs, tied for the most in the majors with the Houston Astros' Mike Fiers.

Weaver struck out three, ending the game with a 6.05 ERA and 1.34 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Weaver, a three-time All-Star in 11 seasons with the Angels, has struggled since signing with San Diego over the winter. He pitched well but was denied a win. The right-hander is 12-2 with a 1.87 ERA in 16 career starts against Chicago. He next takes the ball Friday against the Diamondbacks, who tagged him to the tune of five runs and six hits in 5.2 innings of a 6-2 loss on April 27.

Weaver struck out four, ending the game with a 6.81 ERA and 1.37 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Over his last three starts - all losses - Weaver has given up 22 runs (17 earned) on 22 hits, four walks and two hit batters in 12 2/3 innings. He's also given up seven homers in those three outings.
|May 4 9:12 AM PT10:12 AM MT11:12 AM CT12:12 PM ET12:12 ET16:12 GMT0:12 9:12 AM MST11:12 AM EST11:42 AM VEN20:12 UAE11:12 AM CT-Weaver fell to 0-3, allowing 10 runs - five earned - on 10 hits in 4.0 innings, as the San Diego Padres lost to the Colorado Rockies 11-3 on Wednesday. Weaver struck out two, ending the game with a 5.51 ERA and 1.26 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Weaver, 34, who signed a $3 million free-agent contract on Feb. 19, has allowed 12 homers in six starts. His fastball tops out at about 85 mph.
|Apr. 28 9:03 AM PT10:03 AM MT11:03 AM CT12:03 PM ET12:03 ET16:03 GMT0:03 9:03 AM MST11:03 AM EST11:33 AM VEN20:03 UAE11:03 AM CT-Jered Weaver fell to 0-2, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks in 5.2 innings, as the San Diego Padres lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 on Thursday. Weaver struck out one, ending the game with a 4.71 ERA and 1.08 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: The long ball continues to be a huge problem for Weaver. He served up three on Thursday and has allowed a major league-leading 10 home runs. He gave up 37 last year, second-most behind James Shields. Weaver next pitches against the powerful Rockies on Wednesday, though he did hold them to two runs - both solo homers - and three hits in six innings of a no-decision at Coors Field on April 11.
|Apr. 23 12:12 PM PT1:12 PM MT2:12 PM CT3:12 PM ET15:12 ET19:12 GMT3:12 12:12 PM MST2:12 PM EST2:42 PM VEN23:12 UAE2:12 PM CT-Weaver allowed a pair of solo homers but just two other hits over six innings in Saturday's no-decision against Miami.
Analysis: The soft-tossing veteran has limited opposing hitters to a .221 average through his first four starts as a Padre, though seven of the 19 hits he's surrendered have left the yard. Weaver rates as a rather risky play when he next takes the mound at hitter-friendly Chase Field for Thursday's meeting with the Diamondbacks.
|Apr. 12 1:17 PM PT2:17 PM MT3:17 PM CT4:17 PM ET16:17 ET20:17 GMT4:17 1:17 PM MST3:17 PM EST3:47 PM VEN0:17 UAE (+1)3:17 PM CT-Weaver held the Rockies to three hits through six innings in Tuesday's start, though two were solo homers. He struck out five while not receiving a decision in the Padres' 3-2 loss.
Analysis: The longtime Angels ace has limited opponents to a .195 average through his first two starts as a Padre, but the long ball continues to be an issue. Weaver, whose 37 homers allowed were the second-most in the league last season, has served up four in 11 innings thus far.
