Analysis: The hard-throwing Lindstrom gives the White Sox another reliever to help set up closer Addison Reed. The right-handed Lindstrom pitched a combined 47 innings for Arizona and Baltimore last season, posting a 2.68 ERA with 40 strikeouts and 14 walks. Lindstrom is 13-15 with a 3.64 ERA over six seasons.

Analysis: Lindstrom had a 2.53 ERA in 12 games with the Diamondbacks after arriving in a trade that sent Joe Saunders to Baltimore. The 32-year-old became expendable when the Diamondbacks picked up closer J.J. Putz's $6.5 million option last month and traded for right-handed reliever Heath Bell.

Analysis: Lindstrom went 1-0 with a 2.72 ERA in 34 appearances with the Orioles this season. He has held right-handers to a .207 average and scoreless in 10 of his past 11 outings. Lindstrom has played six major league seasons with Miami, Houston, Colorado and Baltimore.
