Analysis: Stewart was 1-4 with an 8.58 ERA in 20 games last season for the White Sox and Boston. He was traded to the Red Sox with infielder Brent Lillibridge on June 24 in exchange for third baseman Kevin Youkilis. He was traded to Pittsburgh in November and designated for assignment Jan. 17.

Analysis: In a flurry of moves Wednesday, they dealt Stewart to the Pittsburgh Pirates and Rosario to the Oakland Athletics for players to be named and sent Valencia to the Baltimore Orioles for cash considerations. Stewart was 0-2 with a 22.24 ERA in two starts after being obtained from the Chicago White Sox on June 24 for Kevin Youkilis.

The Red Sox announced the moves on Friday.
Analysis: Stewart, acquired on June 24 in a trade that sent Kevin Youkilis to the White Sox, was the starter and loser in his only outing for Boston, a 10-3 loss to the Angels on Aug. 29.

Analysis: The move announced Tuesday comes one day after Stewart was roughed up in a 12-3 loss to the Cubs. Stewart allowed four homers and six runs over 5 2-3 innings in his first start this season. He is 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA in 18 appearances.
