Islanders F Kulemin out 6 months
(TSX / STATS) -- New York Islanders forward Nikolay Kulemin will be sidelined at least six months after undergoing surgery to repair an undisclosed upper-body injury, the team announced Monday.
That timeline puts Kulemin in jeopardy of missing the remainder of the regular season, which ends on April 7. Kulemin was injured following a hit from defenseman Eric Gryba during New York's 2-1 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 7.
The 31-year-old Russian is off to a slow start this season with just one goal and two assists in 13 games. He could become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Kuelin has collected 121 goals and 153 assists in 669 career contests with Toronto and Islanders since being selected by the Maple Leafs in the second round of the 2006 NHL draft.
